When I say “Energy
I get it! If you’re like many people I know, energy work brings up question marks or images of flowy white
Thing is, some energy work IS that way.
But, for me, in my life and in my practice, energy work is as important as nutrition and tradition healthcare for well-being.
I was introduced to Reiki when I going through cancer treatment. I was 16 and my life was upside down because of that cancer. Energy work was an unexpected ally. The short story is that one afternoon, a volunteer knocked on my hospital door and asked if I would like to try Reiki to help me relax. It did that and more — I felt calm and clear; my pain wasn’t as bad; I slept better and had more energy when I was awake… and I was less angry and less afraid.
My cancer journey wasn’t a quick one. It took almost 20 years to get a fully clear scan. 20 years of silently freaking
Studying Reiki was a natural progression. I trained and started using it on myself, for myself.
Then I began using it on my family (and pets).
Finally, I completed a Master apprenticeship and added Reiki to my professional practice.
So often, we neglect self-care.
We put everyone else first.
We’re constantly on the go.
We allow stressful people in our lives.
We work in highly charged environments.
We don’t get enough time in nature.
We forget how to ground and release the negativity that the world throws our way.
While many are skeptical of Reiki at first, a little time on the table shifts all that.
Reiki helps you relax, release and restore your natural balance point.
I invite you to experience it. (If it helps, I’ll double-dog dare ya!)
What is Energy Work?
Energy work is a term that describes practices used to help balance the systems of energy throughout the body to alleviate stress, ailments, and disease. There are different approaches through different traditions, but the goal of all energy work is harmony and balance.
Essentially, when feeling unbalanced either physically, emotionally, or mentally, energy work helps restore and realign the body’s subtle vibrations.
Reiki is one of the main ways to practice energy work, but there are many ways to integrate energy work and healing into your life.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese practice that literally translates to “universal life energy.”
Through a series of gentle hand placements, tension, stress, and pain melt away.
Major systems of the body are given concentrated life-force energy, enhancing the body’s inherent power to heal.
The practitioner works with seven of the main energy systems in the body, called chakras.
These wheels of energy start at the crown of the head and move down the spine, all the way to the feet.
When there is an imbalance in these energy centers, (sometimes called a blockage), there is a disruption in the natural flow of energy in our bodies, which can cause an imbalance in the body and mind.
Reiki practitioners are trained to pick up on imbalances and work to release them.
Believe it or not, this isn’t pseudoscience!
As the Reiki practitioner works, your nervous system responds by shifting out of the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight), into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). One study shows this is at least what’s happening on a short-term basis. While more research is needed, proven benefits of Reiki are lower/balanced blood pressure, relaxation, improved mood and energy, and better sleep.
The body’s ability to heal is as natural as the ability to breathe. Through Reiki, a practitioner essentially guides each person to reconnect that innate healing wisdom and restore balance.
Imagine how incredible you will feel after an hour of deep relaxation and energy balancing.
Many clients describe the feeling as more relaxing than massage and
more restorative than even the best night’s sleep.
Ready to experience an hour of bliss?
What's the deal with stones?
Stones and crystals are everywhere right now… not only are they beautiful. but they are said to channel energy from the earth. By selecting certain ones, you can support specific things in your life, sort of like supplements for the spirit. During energy work, I may use different stones to assist in moving energy or to intuitively support you.
Some stones that I use frequently in my practice are black obsidian, for grounding and protection; rose quartz, to channel love; carnelian, for confidence and courage; malachite, for moving energy and releasing the past; and amethyst, for eliminating bad vibes. You will have an opportunity to choose a stone to use during your session if you’d like!
You don’t need an energy session to enjoy crystals and stones. Find a rock shop (this is my favorite) and choose a few that feel good to you. Place them in places like on your nightstand and on your desk at work, or carry them with you. It may seem all hippy woo-woo, but I bet you’ll end up with a colorful little collection (or a full on obsession!)
The Shamballa Difference
I incorporate Reiki and Shamballa in my Energy Work sessions.
When I experienced a Shamballa energy work session, I felt a difference in the energy flow, I felt more deeply relaxed and more aligned. I enjoyed it so much and was so profoundly touched by the deeper healing that I trained in the modality. It is my honor and my pleasure to offer it to you.
Note: Energy work is most successful in person, but can be done remotely. If you are unable to attend sessions in person then we will meet over the phone, via video conference or simply set a time when you will be able to relax while I am sending energy remotely.
